The Bedient Story

Gene Bedient started the Bedient Pipe Organ company over 40 years ago based on a love of creating technical things and a love of music. Over the course of this journey, Bedient has made many pipe organs throughout the US that are a legacy of craftsmanship. artwork, technical engineering and audible beauty.
In 1969, Bedient started rebuilding and repairing organs in a garage in Lincoln. Over the years with a small dedicated crew, more than 80 organs have been created, each in a unique way and style.
The legacy of organs the Bedient Pipe Organ company has created can be seen in many churches and homes today. The pipe organ is a complicated instrument and designing, planning and building one generally takes the company on average one year to complete. Bedient Pipe organ has consistently employed between 6 and 20 individuals at it’s Nebraska shop over the 40 years.
Long time second in command Paul Lytle has taken charge of the company and the current staff is carrying on the pipe organ legacy in the manner it was started with attention to detail, love of the craft and a end goal to create a magnificent musical instrument that will being joy and wonder to all that listen.
Gene Bedient is an active participant in current affairs and progressive concepts. He is now living in Algiers and working at the Algerian U.S. embassy with his wife, Gwen. Gene also has three children, Andrea who lives in Dallas, Jason who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and Delphine who lives in portland Oregon.
